Some Great Lines:
Obama: Don't let the Perfect be the enemy of the absolutely neccesary. I found this debt when I showed up - wrapped in a great big bow waiting or me...
It's. About. Fracking. TIME!
For the last two week Republicans have been hammering Obama's Stimulus Plan as being nothing but a pork-barrel spending bill with an average of amount of 2 to 1 in comparitive airtime across nearly all cable networks.
Well, Obama says That's the Point!.
So then you get the argument, 'well, this is not a stimulus bill, this is a spending bill.' What do you think a stimulus is? That's the whole point," Obama said to laughter.
...
THIS IS NOT A GAME
Spending IS Stimulus.
In this Washington Post editorial Obama lays it out even more.
By now, it's clear to everyone that we have inherited an economic crisis as deep and dire as any since the days of the Great Depression. Millions of jobs that Americans relied on just a year ago are gone; millions more of the nest eggs families worked so hard to build have vanished. People everywhere are worried about what tomorrow will bring.
What Americans expect from Washington is action that matches the urgency they feel in their daily lives -- action that's swift, bold and wise enough for us to climb out of this crisis.
This is our ECONOMIC 9-11 - the time for talk is over - it's time to Git 'er Done!!
