New Tea Party Seditionist Army Forming in Oklahoma

State Senators in Oklahoma are authorizing the formation of a New State Militia with the specific intent of protecting "States Rights" against the Power of Gross Federal Encroachment and Overreach - like Health Care.

The Associated Press reports that Oklahoma tea party leaders, “frustrated by recent political setbacks,” are working with right-wing Republicans in the Oklahoma legislature to create a new “volunteer militia to help defend against what they believe are improper federal infringements on state sovereignty.” State Sen. Randy Brogdon (R-OK) and State Rep. Charles Key (R-OK) have met with tea party leaders, like J.W. Berry of the Tulsa-based OKforTea group, to plan legislation for a state-authorized militia.

And to form that Militia they've turned to a Turner Diaries Fanboy Tea Bagger? IMO there's nothing in this picture that doesn't stink.

The founding fathers “were not referring to a turkey shoot or a quail hunt. They really weren’t even talking about us having the ability to protect ourselves against each other,” Brogdon said. “The Second Amendment deals directly with the right of an individual to keep and bear arms to protect themselves from an overreaching federal government.”

Frankly speaking Bogdon is absolutely correct here. In Federalist #46 Madison described exactly what the 2nd Amendment was truly about:

The only refuge left for those who prophesy the downfall of the State governments is the visionary supposition that the federal government may previously accumulate a military force for the projects of ambition. The reasonings contained in these papers must have been employed to little purpose indeed, if it could be necessary now to disprove the reality of this danger. It may well be doubted, whether a militia thus circumstanced could ever be conquered by such a proportion of regular troops. Those who are best acquainted with the last successful resistance of this country against the British arms, will be most inclined to deny the possibility of it. Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached, and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of.

The 2nd Amendment is about Revolution, not Duck Hunting.

I happen to believe strongly in the 2nd Amendment and it's need to stand as the Ultimate Deterrent against an out of control government, but the problem is determining when exactly we have reached the neccessary threshold where States must take up violent arms against the agents of the Federal Government due to it's broad "overreach"?

When have we reached the Succession/Revolution point?

Where exactly is that line in the sand?

Did we consider this when it was revealed that the Bush Administration was very clearly warned, including the likely method and potential targets, about the impending 9-11 attacks but did NOTHING to prevent them?

Did we consider this when the Bush Administration illegally bypassed the FISA Court and instigated warrantless wiretaps of every U.S. Soldier and Journalist abroad, as well as any communication to and from the U.S.?

Did we consider this when the Bush Administration Willfully Lied to the American People and the World about Saddam's WMD and connection with Al Qeada in order to fraudulently initiate an unneccessary war in Iraq?

Did we consider this when the Bush Administration admitted to a campaign of worldwide kidnapping and torture targeting persons, many of whom eventually turned out to be completely innocent of any connection to terrorism or wrongdoing?

No, it seems to me we didn't. And the reason we didn't is because our Democratic process hadn't yet completely collapsed - and it still hasn't - so extreme measures such as these simply weren't needed.

But now that the Obama Administration has passed Health Care Reform in order to bring affordable coverage to 35 Million Americans - some people are literally up in arms about it. But then again maybe it's not about what this Administration has done or hasn't done, maybe it's simply about WHO is at the head of this Administration... via Thinkprogress.

Berry, the tea party leader who first solicited support for the militia, has posted rants against President Obama: the “Muslim President” — a “reincarnation of Pol Pot” who is trying to imprison Americans for resisting health reform. One ominous posting from Berry says that his militia should "launch a thousand guerrilla attacks on the plans that these people have to ruin us and our country.”

Both Berry and Brogdon lean heavily on far right propaganda and media outlets to fuel their conspiracy theories. Berry frequently cites conservative news outlets like CNS and notes that he draws inspiration from the white supremacist thriller The Turner Diaries. Despite his extremism, Berry has met with Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) and other members of the Oklahoma Republican delegation, and counts them as “rock solid.” Brogdon, whose states’ rights resolution was drafted by corporate lobbyists opposed to health reform, has been endorsed by the lobbyist-run Tea Party Express and has appeared on on Fox News, Alex Jones’ radio show, and at a Glenn Beck rally.

So here we have a Turner Diaries reading Tim McVeigh Wannabe Beckified Conspiracy Theorist Nutball who has compared Obama to a Mass Murderer and openly suggested guerrilla attacks against the government - wanting to get the State of Oklahoma to support his own private little Army of Nutballs in opposition to the Duly Elected President, and the duly passed laws of Congress.

And he's Getting that Support.

Like I said, nothing about this doesn't stink.

Breitbart Owes Trumka & UNNCF $100,000 - Pay Up Dead Beat

In this video, shot at Harvard during a forum featuring AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka being harangued by Andrew Brietbart of BigGovernment.com, the people that brought us the fraudulent ACORN Videos.



In this clip Breitbart presents a long rambling question to Trumpka in which he cites the recent spitting and N-Word incident at the Capital as being "questionable"...

Breitbart: I've offered $100,000 to anyone who heard or has tape of the incident...

He's put forth this overture despite the fact that the claim wasn't just made by Lewis, there were other Congressmen and even Reporters from CNN there who heard many different epithets thrown at Democrats and supporters of the Health Care Bill.

"I haven't seen heard anything like this in more than 40 years, maybe 45." Lewis said. "Since the march from Selma to Montgomery really."

"Yeah, but it's okay," Lewis added. "I've faced this before. So, it reminded me of the 60's. There's a lot of downright hate and anger and people are just being downright mean."

The incident was confirmed by Rep. Andre Carson, D-Indiana, who was walking with Lewis at the time. Protesters were yelling, "'kill the bill, kill the bill' and the 'N' word several times," Carson said.

Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Missouri, released a statement late Saturday saying he too was called the "N" word as he walked to the Capitol for a vote and that he was spat on by one protestor who was arrested by U.S. Capitol Police. Cleaver declined to press charges against the man, the statement said.

Protesters also hurled anti-gay comments at Rep. Barney Frank, D-Massachusetts, who is openly gay, as he left the same health care meeting that Lewis attended in a House office building.

A CNN producer overheard the word "faggot" yelled at Frank several times in the lobby of the Longworth building. Frank said he heard someone yell "homo" at him.

"I'm disappointed," Frank said. "There's an unwillingness to be civil."

Let me again point out that the guy who did the spitting was arrested. He's not a phantasm from the mind of some so-called "Race Hustlers", it happened. Capital Police officers witnessed it and took action.

But Breitbart doesn't believe it. He wants "proof", meanwhile he goes on to argue that the REAL victims of Hatred and Violence aren't Democrats, it's the Tea Partiers themselves.

So, I'm not really down with the Great Egging - but if anything is clear from this video - it's that Breitbart is a chronic whiner!

You can't handle a tossed egged? Let me go back to what John Lewis said again...

"It's Okay"... not exactly "I'm just standing here and people want to do violence to me." Hey, at Selma people did do violence to John Lewis, he was nearly beaten to death on the Edmon Pettus Bridge in Selma simply for marching in support of the right to Vote - a mere 90 plus years after the ratification of the 15th Amendment which supposedly guaranteed that right.

But y'know, it's not like it was anything important.

Certainly not as important as a Tea Party Rally. Breitbart goes on, and on, talking about some Tea bag associate of his being called the "N-Word" by "SEIU Thugs" and finally asks his questions: Do you condemn this violence as well as the so-called violence against Democrats?

Well, duh!

Unlike Breitbart, Trumpka does not attempt to re-write reality and claim that the bus didn't get egged, or that the scuffle between SEIU members and Tea Partiers didn't happen last August in St. Louis (documented by this video here).



The fight did happen, exactly who attacked who isn't clear and the cross claims and counter claims are pretty fierce. Be that as it may - no one has said they support this - yet that hasn't stopped repeated Tea Party claims that this incident was somehow part of a Massive Plot by ACORN and OBAMA to intimidate the Tea Partiers.

Yeah, right...

Anywho, the real kicker comes when Trumka finally gets a chance to answer Breitbart and says - He was THERE when John Lewis was called the N-Word - He HEARD IT HIMSELF as did other AFL-CIO members who were their in support of the Health Care Bill.

Trumka: I watched them spit at people - I heard them call John Lewis the N-word!

Breitbart: So you heard that?

Trumka: We did hear that. Violence by any person is wrong.

So does Breibart turnaround and say - "I'm sorry, I was wrong - there rally are some bigots in the Tea Party Ok, Here's your $100,000!"?

FRACK NO!

Breitbart: You have no evidence that these people expressed racism or homophobia.

Trumka: Really? I witnessed it - I Saw it. That IS evidence.

So let's get this straight now, a black guy Tea Partiers gets into a scuffle with a couple other black guys (from SEIU) at a Town Hall and clearly it's no ones fault but the SEUI "Thugs?" I point out the fact that the guys who fought with Gadney are black because it does - rightly or wrongly - change the context if any "N-Words" were thrown around, even though when I listened to the tape I didn't hear any.

Must not have happened then eh, Andrew?

There is no doubt, that it has been Pro-Health Care Democrats who have borne the brunt of threats and epithets thrown their way by Tea Partiers, and generally not the other way around.

Clearly there may have been a couple incidents but it doesn't really compare with this:

The guy who spoke these words is in jail now for threatening the life of Senator Patty Murray - and I notice that in the midst of his rant he called John Lewis the N-Word!.

Call me silly but I think that's "evidence", just as what Richard Trumka witnessed with his own eyes and ears is "evidence". And what other members of Congress heard is evidence, and what the CNN producer heard is "evidence"

The fact that you can't clearly hear one shout in a 48 sec video of John Lewis walking near the Capital isn't proof either way, that walk took more than 48 seconds. One thing we should all know from the Great O'Keefe ACORN SCAM Videos is that sometimes edited videos don't show you everything. But you don't have to hear the naked bigotry and ignorance coming from Tea Partiers, you can SEE It.



No one is saying you can't justifiably criticize this bill, or that you can't criticize the President. No on is arguing from the Pro-Health Care side that unprovoked violence is *EVER* justified, but neither are we trying to distort reality by denying that what has occurred - really did occur even when it may make our side look bad.

You can't say that about the Tea Partiers.

Unfortunately Breitbart's call to "Denounce Violence" is sadly one-sided and therefore suspect. His efforts are clearly an attempt to shame and stifle one section of the debate (the winning section actually) while bolstering his efforts to promote the other side and generally attack Democrats.

Democrats don't HAVE to resort to violence, we won at the election booth - and we won on the Health Care Vote, Fair and Square.

The fact is that standing against violence means standing against everyones violence, not just those people you disagree with - it means standing against the violence of people who are on your own side too!

Dan Lungren to Threatened Congresmen: Keep Quiet About it!

This just in from the Sacramento Bee: Republican Congressman Dan Lungren (CA-3) thinks other Congressmen and women who've had been harrased and had their lives threatened Doth Protest Too Much!

"We ought to kind of cool it in terms of the publicity of this stuff," Lungren said. "I don't think it serves any purpose other than maybe encourage some nutcases out there because they think they'll get publicity about it."

I really wonder whether the Rain flies upward in Opposite Land where Lungren Lives - but having been to Gold River, It's more likely that Dan is just used to standing on his head too much.

Let me get this straight... in the last few days there have been two arrests of persons threatening the LIVES - not just Shit-talking, but actively describing MURDER - of the Speaker of the House, and Washington Senator Patty Murray, and Lungren thinks their making too much of a big deal about it?

He uses a story from his own experience in Alexandria Va. to help illustrate his point.

On Easter morning in Alexandria, Va., a motorcyclist spotted the license plates on his car, then pulled up next to him and asked if he was a congressman. The Republican from Gold River said yes.

"He started using profanities and telling me how I was a criminal and I ought to go to jail," Lungren said. "Then he pulled the motorcycle to the other side of the car, where my wife was, and repeated the very same thing, to which my wife responded, 'Have a nice Easter.' "

Lungren said he didn't feel any particular need to publicize the harassment. And he wishes more of his colleagues would follow suit.

Seems to me that Lungren just publicized one his own threat here, hypocrite much?

But let's get to brass tacks here, someone saying "you should be arrested" is very different from saying "You Should Die", or worse "YOU'RE GONNA DIE - I'm going to see to it" which is exactly what occured with Senator Murray and Speaker Pelosi.

There's another good reason Dan didn't report it, if he'd whined about being heckled on the freeway every time it happened - he'd be laughed at.

Honeslty, I'm laughing right now.

Contrast that with the guy who was run off the road because he had an Obama sticker on his car.



Hey Dan, since you can obviously tolerate little harsh language let me be blunt- shit like this is called A Crime - and reporting it is a reponsibility, it's not optional, it's not whining, it's doing your civic duty. In this case it was a deliberate Hit and Run. The cutting of the gas line and the home of one Congressman's brother - Was also A CRIME, possibly even attempted murder of the residents of that house either from gas poisoning or a potential explosion.

These are Acts of Terrorism Daniel - and they shouldn't be taken lightly. Publicizing the fact that someone who committed a crime, and act of intimidation and Terrorism just went to jail for it actually does serve a purpose - it's called Deterrence. As opposed to your brilliant strategery which would be like telling a Rape Victim to shut the hell up or else she'll get Raped Again.

But Dan - who used to be California's Attorney General and should bloody well KNOW BETTER - thinks differently, besides apparently thinking that the best way to fight terrorism is to just stop talking about it so they just get bored and give up, he doesn't think the threats and the violence are steadily getting worse (whether anyone talks about those threats or not..)

"I have no evidence at this point that there is a steep rise in threats or that it's a more dangerous situation with respect to members of Congress," he said.

Lungren's assessment was challenged Friday by Democrats on the subcommittee.

"Discussions with members of Congress and law enforcement officials have shown increased incidents of threats directed at members," said House Administration Committee Chairman Robert Brady of Pennsylvania and Capitol Security Subcommittee Chairman Michael E. Capuano of Massachusetts, both Democrats, in a joint statement.

It's difficult to say who's right.

The most notable police action was the arrest this week of Gregory Giusti, 48, of San Francisco, who police said was so angry over the health care act that he made at least 48 calls to Pelosi's homes and offices. Pelosi told the FBI the caller had used "extremely vulgar and crude language" on two occasions when she answered the phone at her Washington home.

Also this week, authorities in Yakima, Wash., arrested Charles Alan Wilson, 63, on a charge of threatening Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash. In a phone conversation with an FBI agent posing as a member of a group opposing health care legislation, Wilson confirmed that he had made repeated calls to Murray and Washington's other Democratic senator, Maria Cantwell, and said, "I do pack, and I will not blink when I'm confronted. ... It's not a threat; it's a guarantee."

The third arrest involved a Philadelphia man charged with threatening in an Internet video to kill House Republican Whip Eric Cantor of Virginia. A court has ruled that Norman Leboon, 38, has multiple personalities and is not currently competent to stand trial.

In an e-mail to the campaign of Stephen Cohen, D-Tenn., one person wrote: "If our tea parties had hoods, we would burn your (expletive) on a cross an the White House front lawn."

Yeah, well - that would just go just fine and dandy with the Swastikas, Crescents, Joker Faces, and Hammer & Sickles you've already got - I think we all get the message loud and clear.

Watching this discussion between Keith Olbermann and Chris Hayes of that Nation I was struck with the apparently inherent quandary of free and open society which treasures and values free speech, yet abhors violence. We want people to be as open and vocal as possible, yet we do not want people to turn incendiary rhetoric into violent and incendiary action. Yet that is exactly what has been occurring and will continue to occur, unless we take a stand and demand that others either stand with us - or stand exposed as the hate and violence mongers they are.



As of today, as of now - I have started the Democratic Non-Violence Project beginning with a FaceBook Page of the same name, the goal of which is to circulate a pledge - as was suggested by Chris Hayes - to each and every member of Congress, to each and Governor, to each and every State Legislator to Formally RENOUNCE ALL FORMS OF POLITICAL VIOLENCE.

It should be a no brainer.

It should go without saying.

But apparently, after two men were recently arrested making Death Threats against sitting members of Congress, after another attempted to sabotage the gas line at what he believed was another Congressman's Home, after a bullet landed through the window of the House GOP Whip (regardless of the sketchy details) it does needs to be said - and Loudly!

We all have a right to speak our minds. Under the law, and the Brandenburg Standard we are all protected up to the point where we suggest and call for imminent violence against our fellow Americans. That is the line we must not cross, yet so many in our political sphere have for too long felt comfortable tip-toeing up to that line and shouting FIRE as loud as they can for political and/or financial gain, then shrugging as people are trampled in the ensuing stampede.

NO MORE.

It's time, before we are forced to bury more people - like those who were killed at the Knoxville Unitarian Church or the Guard at the Holocaust Museum - who have become the victims of political violence, to take a stand and to say NO MORE.

Our nation will live on together, debating and arguing loudly and peacefully to become a more perfect union day by day, year by year. I swear I will do all I can to make it so.

Those people who address the public and each other on political subjects have a Responsibility to make it clear and unequivocal where they stand on the subject of political violence. This is a simple black and white issue - regardless of Party, regardless of Creed - you either stand AGAINST VIOLENCE or by your silence - you stand WITH IT.

And By "Democratic" I mean the democratic process by which we govern this Republic, not the Democratic Party (which the Righties call the "Democrat" party anyway - so they shouldn't get confused - although they might.)

It's time we made all of our politicians, Democratic, Republican, Libertarian, Green Party, Socialists and yes - even The Tea Party. Especially the Tea Party - pledge themselves to the cause of Democratic Non-Violence, or else reveal their true allegiances.

Yes, that's right I WANT Tea Partiers to pledge themselves. Are you with Non-Violence or are you against it? Put yourself on the record, if you don't like being associated with people who would shoot at police or try to blow them up, fly their plane into the IRS Building, shoot up a Unitarian Church, Kill an OB/GYN, call Rep John Lewis "Nigger", Rep Barney Frank "Faggot", or Rep. Eric Cantor "Kike" - either in the past or the future - PLEDGE YOURSELF to this cause.

Bob, the man with Parkinson's who was targeted by the Tea Partiers, sat down with ProgressOhio for an interview. He is 60 years old and was first diagnosed with Parkinsons 15 years ago. He has two masters degrees and a Ph.D. from Cornell. He taught at the University of Michigan and worked as a nuclear engineer.
